Cubed by Law Squared appoints Erica Zhong to lead next phase of growth

Cubed has announced the appointment of Erica Zhong as Head of Cubed, the matter and contract management platform built natively on Microsoft 365 for in-house legal teams. Erica joins at a time when legal teams are under pressure to adopt AI but often lack the data governance and audit trails needed to support it effectively. Cubed acts as the operational layer underneath, centralising legal data and enabling defensible workflows. Cubed already supports in-house legal teams across Australia and the UK in healthcare, superannuation, technology, insurance and automotive. Erica will lead commercial strategy, growth and client experience as the business continues to scale.

A rare combination of legal, commercial and technology experience

Erica joins Cubed with experience spanning corporate law, management consulting and growth leadership across legal technology, property and health sectors, with roles at PEXA, Medibank and leading global legal and professional services firms. Most recently as Head of Growth, she led global enterprise client acquisition and commercial strategy in the LegalTech market.

A shared vision for Cubed's next chapter

On her appointment, Erica said Cubed's focus was on solving the structural problem that underpins the AI conversation.

"There is enormous noise right now about AI replacing lawyers. But the more pressing question for general counsel is whether their team has the core infrastructure to use AI effectively and defend how they do so," Erica said.

"Cubed exists to give legal teams that foundation. Centralised matter and contract data, consistent workflows and a clear record of who decided what and when. That is the necessary work that turns risk into capability. I'm joining because that is the most important problem to solve in this market right now."

Demetrio Zema, Group CEO of Squared Group, the parent company behind Cubed, said Erica's appointment was a deliberate choice for where the market is heading.

"There is no shortage of vendors selling AI to in-house legal teams. Very few are solving the harder problem, which is the underlying data and governance layer. Erica has worked on every side of this market: as a lawyer, as a strategist and as a builder of legal tech. She understands that the value is in the foundations, not the headlines," Demetrio said.

"Erica's appointment reflects the calibre of leadership we are building across Squared Group, with a product that gives in-house legal teams the foundations to be future-ready. We're delighted to welcome her."

About Cubed

Launched in May 2025, Cubed by Law Squared is the legal intake, matter and contract management platform built natively on Microsoft 365. Cubed centralises matter and contract information, classifies it, and produces a clear record of who decided what and when, giving in-house legal teams the data governance and audit trails that make AI adoption defensible. Built as a Microsoft Power Application, Cubed natively integrates with Outlook, SharePoint, Power BI and Copilot, supports one-day deployment, operates on an annual flat fee with no per-user costs, and keeps client data inside the client's own Microsoft tenancy.

About Squared Group
